Samantha Ediker - Group 2: Marchesa

Marchesa

I really can appreciate Marchesa as a brand because of its English roots and the sisterhood of two women Giorgina Chapmen and Keren Craig. Their success shows the strength of having a really great partnership in fashion, and how collaboration can really make you stronger.

In terms of aesthetic, this is the kind of design I really love and respond to. It is Couture at heart and is therefore the raw inspiration of a garment, it hasn't been edited down in terms of cost or practicality, its fashion at its closest to being free.

This is the kind of design that I could look at all day, the intricate details fascinate me. Couture design today is what historically only the upperclasses and royalty could afford but now they are only for the elite few in the fashion crowd that can splash the money. These dresses are status symbols, and only the in crowd gets a viewing of them on the catwalk.
